The Boonshill Community organized their Volunteer Fire Department in the late 1970's when the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) donated a 1978 Ford Mini Pumper to them. Lincoln County spent $5000 to erect a building to house the truck In the late 1990's a 1978 International Tanker and a 1964 Ford Pumper were added to the station.
